BOOKS BY THE BANKS: CINCINNATI USA BOOK FESTIVAL
Held November 3, 2007, 10am-6pm, Duke Energy Center
Over 1500 people attended the inaugural Books by the Banks: Cincinnati USA Book Festival, which celebrated and promoted the joy and reading of books.
The day-long festival featured more than 90 regional and national authors of fiction, history, mystery, biography, travel, non-fiction, children's literature, and more.
Featured writers included:
-- Mary Kay Carson, author of the children's book Emi and the Rhino Scientist, featuring Cincinnati Zoo scientist Terri Roth and her efforts to preserve the endangered Sumatran rhino.

-- Andrea Cheng, author of fiction books for children and young adults. Her most recent novel is Eclipse, set in Cincinnati in 1952.
-- Brock Clarke, author of the highly acclaimed book An Arsonist's Guide
to Writers' Homes in New England (2007).

Sharon Draper, award-winning teacher and author of The Hazelwood High Trilogy - Tears of a Tiger, Forged by Fire, and Darkness Before Dawn.

Brian Leung, award-winning author whose new novel, Lost Men, has been critically acclaimed.
-- Robert Morgan, author of historical fiction titles Gap Creek (1999), This Rock (2001), and Brave Enemies (2003). This October, Morgan published a non-fiction biography of Daniel Boone, entitled Boone.
--Karen Robards, noted author of romantic suspense novels. Her latest title is Obsession.
Attendees to the festival had the opportunity to meet authors and to purchase signed copies of their books. In addition, activities were held throughout the day such as author readings and panel presentations on such topics as baseball, cookbooks, cartoonists, local history, romance, and urban fiction. A special Kids' Corner featured crafts and programming for kids of all ages.

Books by the Banks will be an annual community event designed to attract a broad range of book lovers from throughout the tri-state. Planning is underway for Books by the Banks, 2008 scheduled for Saturday, November 1, from 10am-4pm at Duke Energy Center. Check back for more details.
